Passing through Gate 59
In Human Design, my conscious sun (personal branding) is about intimacy and transparency. And honestly, in the few years I’ve been studying Human Design and Gene Keys, it never really resonated with me — until today.
This morning I was thinking about how entrepreneurial skills, success, relationships, and healing all have in common. Over the summer, someone posted a rant about how coaches try to turn everyone into business owners, but not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur. Although not 100% wrong, his commentary didn’t sit well with an inner knowing I had. At first, there was the triggering of someone trying to make me bad and wrong for my dream and business, but it was also more than that. Then yesterday, I took some online business courses, and it dawned on me that business, relationships, and healing were all connected to success. Hence my contemplation and awareness this morning.
Happiness
In the early — way too early — morning hours, I was thinking about when I was happiest in my corporate career. A few years before I became a team lead for my group, I was starting my recovery from a health condition and going to massage school, which unlocked a passion for business and leadership within me — as well as a love for healing. Even with massage school behind me, all I read were business and leadership books, while I also took massage and energy healing classes. I worked with various healers during this time, which opened me to new levels of being within myself. When my manager finally offered me the team leader role, I told him I would accept the position as long as I could lead the way I wanted. And then came the stress of stepping into that role, trying new things, and learning to do all of the technical pieces of the role, plus all of my previous responsibilities. It taught me a lot about handling stress, asking for help, and delegating responsibilities.
While learning the role’s technical aspects, I started shifting the team dynamics. I hated meetings where people sat quietly working until the lead called on them to provide their status. As a leader, I knew that I should have the pulse of the workload through the tools we had and 1:1 meetings with team members. I started to bring things into the meetings that inspired me to be a better person. We would watch Ted Talks and discuss them. We discussed books like Lean In by Sheryl Sandburg. I had everyone do the Strength Finder test to discover their top strengths. I shared what I was learning with them and asked them questions about where they wanted their careers to go, and I helped them create opportunities to develop those skills. We were an intimate group and shared everything. When we got a new manager, it was the intimate connection we had that kept us together. As he eroded the energy within the department, we would all discuss what was happening and how to resolve it. We would all ask him the same questions during our 1:1 and found that he often gave us different answers — answers that were in opposition to what he said to someone else. And together, as a group, we created talking points, and I went to the next level manager to share with him what was happening. Two days later, we no longer had that person as our manager.
Through my conscious sun of intimacy, I created a solid team. Through my healing journey and empathy, I built powerful connections with my team. I achieved personal and business success through my love of business and leadership. My team became innovative and collaborative, influencing groups outside our department. Minus the stressful days, I felt happy and satisfied. And then, we were reorganized into another department that split us up. But that was the slow push I needed to go deeper into my healing and business journey.
So yes, you may not be an entrepreneur, but every business skill you learn increases your value in your career and will help you move ahead. And yes, you may be a practical and logical business person who doesn’t put much stock in energetic healing work. Still, it will help clear your blocks around creativity, collaboration, emotional intelligence, and your connection to something much larger than you. Energetic and emotional healing helps you become a better you, and your clients, business partners, managers, and others will notice. And they will want to work with you and promote you.
So today, for the first time since I started my Human Design journey four years ago, I inner-stand how my gift of Intimacy makes me a powerful leader, healer, and coach, especially when I ground that intimacy within my spirit. I’m also not going to be everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to healing and business because to reach true intimacy, we must be willing to go deep and take that journey together. If you want fluff and surface-level healing, I’m not the healer and leader for you. I’m ready to work with you when you’re ready to dive into the core and unpack this life and every other lifetime. I’m ready to help you become the leader of your success.
